There are a lot of Sioux Falls wedding venues to choose from, so how do you choose the one that works best for you and your partner’s big day?
As wedding photographers based in Sioux Falls, we’re here to help you with your venue decision process. Your venue is the number one driver in how your photos turn out because it can set the tone and the vibe. It’s so crucial because the venue can contribute to an easier or smoother day and, in turn, less stress for you and your partner.
So, let’s get into it; here are 5 of the best wedding venues in Sioux Falls, SD!
Our Favorite Sioux Falls Wedding Venues
Monick Yards
To kick it off, let’s talk about Monick Yards, a beautiful venue in downtown Sioux Falls. If an industrial venue is on your wedding’s Pinterest board, this is the location for you. Monick Yards stands out from other venues in the area because of its stunning urban meets modern feel. Though the venue is newer in town, it is one of the few options that isn’t a barn.
The venue features 12,000 square feet and can accommodate up to 350 people for your big day. It’s split between two main areas, the Grand Hall and the Reception Hall, and has distinct characteristics that add to its charm, including oversized windows and wooden accents. We love its great, two-sided layout.
When booking at Monick Yards, you’ll get access to both Halls if you book Friday through Sunday. Alternatively, you can rent one or the other Monday through Thursday.
Amenities at this venue include a furnished patio, seating lounges, private suites, an on-site venue manager, wooden tables, European bentwood chairs, and more. The spacious getting-ready suites are nice and close, and the lighting is great.
Sometimes, decor gets a little lost in bigger venues, but that’s not the case here. It has a very cozy atmosphere and lower ceilings, allowing the decor to shine.
The Atrium at Blue Haven
Another of the absolute best wedding venues in Sioux Falls is The Atrium at Blue Haven. This modern venue is one of the larger places to host your wedding, as it can accommodate up to 500 guests! We also love the natural lighting here.
You’ll find getting-ready suites with private bathrooms, a beautiful terrace area, a breathtaking fireplace, and an outside space for summer cocktail hours. It’s also pretty easy to get to for those visiting from out of town, as hotels in the area offer free shuttle services to and from the venue.
Catering is handled in-house at The Atrium, with a menu created by Executive Chef Tyler and his team. Your mouth will water as you peek at their menu and dessert offerings. The price includes napkins, plates, silverware, etc.
Prairie Shores
Prairie Shores may be located slightly outside of Sioux Falls along Lake Herman in Madison, but it’s still worth mentioning because it’s that good. This venue has a fantastic campus where everyone can stay and has fun campground vibes.
The venue’s aesthetic feels very upscale yet rustic, with pretty cabins and woodlands. Because of its lakefront location, you’ll be able to get beautiful ceremony views and photos from your big day.
Prairie Shores is great for both weddings and elopements and offers lots of venue access (you get 4 hours of access the day before to decorate), a choice of upgrades, and multiple ceremony sites, so you can make it your own. Twenty guests can be accommodated within the lodging on-site at the Grand Oak Lodge.
The owners and staff here are also incredible; they care about going above and beyond to ensure their couples have a good weekend.
Emerald Pines Barn
While barns are abundant for wedding venues in Sioux Falls, Emerald Pines Barn stands out from the rest. There are stunning outdoor spots for sunset photos. Plus, you’ll find a pretty outdoor ceremony space, outdoor patio, and fire pit, which are great for parties with fewer dancers.
The barn feels modern and classy, with a reception hall that can accommodate up to 350 guests if needed. You’ll find exposed wood beams, a shiplap wall, and even giant chandeliers that help add a chic touch throughout the venue.
There are two getting-ready spaces. One features an area for hair styling with a mirror and space for six additional party guests. The other has a comfortable couch, bar counter with stools, foosball table, and gaming system. We love these spaces because of their outstanding natural lighting!
Remember that outdoor ceremony space that we mentioned? It’s incredibly peaceful, and white chairs have been designated for the outdoor ceremony, contrasting beautifully with the landscape. Plus, there’s a large cedar wedding arch where you and your partner can exchange vows in front of all your loved ones.
Prairie Winds
Last but certainly not least, if you’re up for an hour-and-a-half drive, you can’t miss out on Prairie Winds. We love this venue; it’s truly a hidden gem located nearby in Iowa!
The venue itself has a classic brick Midwestern aesthetic, and there’s amazing full-service on-site staff. It’s just over 15,000 square feet and can accommodate 385 wedding guests. Beautiful windows (allowing for amazing natural light), vaulted ceilings, and other small details throughout truly make this venue unforgettable.
Prairie Winds features a few different spaces:
- The Main Hall can accommodate 235 guests. With three rooms and brick pillars, this area feels intimate because of how it’s sectioned off.
- The Mezzanine can accommodate 150 guests. It overlooks The Main Hall and features the getting-ready suite.
- The Garden Pavilion is great for lawn games (cornhole, anyone?) and socializing amongst guests, with beautiful views. The outdoor ceremony space is perfect for cocktail hour.
- The Foyer serves as the welcome space for wedding guests and features a stairwell up to The Mezzanine.
- The Getting-Ready Suite has two different mirrors and chairs, hooks for hanging clothing, and a window for natural lighting.
As you can see, you really can’t go wrong with Prairie Winds!
